    "body": "## Summary\n\n`TocEntry.to_dict()` produces different output depending on whether the instance's `extra_fields` cached property has already been accessed.\n\nThe `extra_fields` property uses `@cached_property`, which stores its computed value in the instance's `__dict__`. Since `to_dict()` serializes every non-`None` entry from `__dict__`, the cached property is subsequently included as an additional `extra_fields` field.\n\nThis also occurs through normal API usage: `to_markdown()` accesses `extra_fields`, so calling `to_markdown()` before `to_dict()` changes the serialized representation of an otherwise unchanged `TocEntry`.\n\n## Version and environment\n\n- Repository: https://github.com/internetarchive/openlibrary\n- Checked commit: `6d66f877b83af3d4557d766f4f156165add8e405` (source checked on 2026-10-25).\n- Linux; Python 3.14.5 and the checkout’s test requirements. The parsing checks use luqum 0.11.0. Building psycopg2 requires PostgreSQL development headers/pg_config; our reproduction environment used the same-version psycopg2-binary distribution instead.\n\n## Expected behavior\n\n`TocEntry.to_dict()` should serialize only the entry's declared content fields, regardless of whether derived or cached properties have been accessed.\n\nCalling `to_markdown()` or reading `extra_fields` should not add an `extra_fields` key to subsequent dictionary serialization.\n\n## Reproduction\n\nPrepare a separate checkout:\n\n```bash\ngit clone https://github.com/internetarchive/openlibrary.git oblitest-openlibrary\ncd oblitest-openlibrary\ngit checkout --detach 6d66f877b83af3d4557d766f4f156165add8e405\ngit submodule update --init --recursive\npython3.14 -m venv .venv\n. .venv/bin/activate\npython -m pip install -r requirements_test.txt\nexport PYTHONPATH=\"$PWD${PYTHONPATH:+:$PYTHONPATH}\"\n```\n\n\n\nFrom the checked-out repository root, save the following as `reproduce.py` and run `python reproduce.py`. Only the cached-property access state differs.\n\n## Scope of the evidence\n\nThis reproduction uses the actual `TocEntry` implementation and its public `to_markdown()` and `to_dict()` methods, without mocking dependencies.\n\nIt confirms order-dependent serialization and unintended inclusion of cached internal state.
